Hunter Awtrey was born on August 19, 1998, and spent his formative years in a family that valued education and leisure pursuits. On July 5, 2020, Hunter Awtrey, a 22-year-old adventurer, passed away from fatal injuries sustained in a fall near Wilmington. Hunter passed away too soon, but his memory endures because he left an enduring impression on everyone he met.

Despite having a passion for the great outdoors, Hunter Awtrey was constantly seeking out new adventures, whether they involved snowboarding, fishing, golf, or dirt biking.

Hunter Awtrey also found that despite his need for heart-pounding activities, he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones the most. He graduated from Trinity High School in 2016 as a student-athlete. He played varsity football, basketball, and baseball.

Later, Hunter Awtrey continued his education by majoring in business and finance at UNC-Charlotte, where he was a prominent member of the student body and held positions as the social chairman of the fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi and vice president of recruitment for the interfraternity council.
